Some of our more frequently asked questions (faq) are below.
Q: What is your response time if a piece of equipment breaks down?
A: First of all, we have many safeguards in place, in case something goes wrong. We run all of our music off of computer, and have backup systems in place, if one goes down. In addition, we run a powered speaker system, from which a dance can continue if one crashes. As members of the Alberta Association of Mobile Entertainers our other members are available to deliver a piece of equipment if we need it, usually within the hour. Your dance will continue, and whatever down time we may have will be added on.
Q: Are you a licensed dj?
A: Yes, we are. Part of our membership in the Alberta Association of Mobile Entertainers includes an AVLA license, which is renewed annually. Visit the Audio-Video Licensing Agency by clicking the link. We also carry a city of Edmonton business license. It may not seem like a big deal, but many don’t.
Q: May I preview a dj before I make my final decision?
A: of course you can, as long as we are able to obtain permission from our clients that it is ok for you to preview. We will do everything we can to allow you to do so.
Q: Will the dj I preview be the one assigned to perform at my event?
A: barring any unforeseen circumstances, like illness or family emergencies, yes they will. Even if something drastic happens and the dj you preview will not be able to make it, have no fear! Our wedding and party dj’s and karaoke hosts are all experienced, trained well, and know what they’re doing. any of them will host your event with class and professionalism.
Q: What does the package include?
A: our packages include complimentary background music for dinner and cocktail hours, and use of our wired handheld microphone for any programs or speeches, if necessary. Also included is a small light show, including 2 effects. We will be setup prior to your guests’ arrival, and will start the music at the scheduled time. Our dress will match your event, and will be discussed ahead of time, most likely during our personal consultation with you. The package also includes a 4-hour dance, usually until one am. Q: Will I receive written confirmation of our agreement?
A: Yes, you will. there will be a contract to sign that lays out your costs, the date, and what is required for us to perform (terms and conditions)
Q: Can we meet to discuss our music preferences?
A: We wouldn’t have it any other way. as a matter of fact, where some companies simply mail out forms for you to fill out, we will have a personal consultation with you a few months out from your event to discuss the details…the timing for the night, the songs and music you’ll be looking for, what you don’t want played, and how we can help make your event that much better! Following the personal consultation, we will give you a phone call and send an email two weeks from your event to ensure nothing has changed, and if it has, to make sure we’re ready to go on the big day!
Q: Do you know the proper etiquette for our function?
A: Yes. Since it changes from event to event, as well, we will discuss the dj’s attire during the personal consultation, as well. We are ready to go for any event – formal, business casual, casual, barn dance. 🙂 We can dress for it all.
Q: Do you have insurance?
A: Yes, we carry two million dollars in liability insurance, in case of accident.
Q: Who makes the final decision?
A: This isn’t a question that gets asked a lot, however it is one you should know about. Don’t let any dj company bully you into taking their services. Take your time in making a decision for your dj, as they will be a big part of the party. The final decision on who you book with rests with you. Don’t let anyone take that away from you.
